Farhan's wit wins at Star Screen AwardsBharati Dubey Farhan Akhtar walked away with the Star TV Screen Awards for 2001 for his witty dialogues in Dil Chahta Hai. Not to be outdone father Javed Akhtar was adjudged best lyricist for the same film while cousin Farah Khan won the award for best choreography. But there was more to come. The film bagged the award for special effects too. The special effects work was done by Queensland-based post-production company BEEPS (note the song Kaisi hai yeh rut) At a glittering awards ceremony at Mumbai's Andheri Sports Complex, Nitin Desai came out trumps for his tasteful art direction in Lagaan. The film also had other winners in Ashutosh Gowariker for his moving screenplay, Anil Mehta for his aesthetic cinematography and Ballu Saluja for his crisp editing. Tinu Verma action sequences in Gadar were adjudged the best in the year 2001. As Ranjit Barots background score in Aks came in for its share of attention, Ashwin Balsavar walked off with the Best Sound Award for Zubeidaa. Madhur Bhandarkar's heart-rending story of a bar dancer in Chandni Bar won him the Best Story Award. Earlier, the Marathi films awards went to Padmini Kolhapure -- Best Actress (Chimani Pakhare), Kishore Kadam -- Best Actor (Dhyaas Parva); Best Director: Milind Uke for Devki.
