Sanjay Gupta has not delivered a single hit so far. Aatish, Hamesha, Khauff, Ram Shastra, Jung all bombed at the box office. But the director has high hopes for Kaante, which was shot in Los Angeles. Co-producer Raju Sharad Patel, who is based in Hollywood, is incidentally married to Kumar Gaurav's sister.

The film was affected by the 9/11 attacks. 'Everything came to a close,' explains Gupta. 'The location where we were shooting in was a sensitive area so we were not allowed to shoot there. We had to shift, reallocate dates and schedules. It affected us in a major way.'
