Jayalalitha has promised to scrap the Sethusamudram Canal project if the AIADMK is voted back to power. Chiding her for changing her views -- she had previously supported the project -- Karunanidhi, the oldest chief minister in India (he will be 85 on June 3) -- declared, "She is trying to sabotage the Sethusamudram project which is a centuries old dream of the Tamils."
"I don't think the voters of Tamil Nadu will give her the authority to do such a thing. It is suicidal. The project is vital to the development of the state and it can transform the economy of Tamil Nadu. Despite having Anna's picture on the party flag, and his name in the party's name, she is out to destroy his dream of having the canal there."
Karunanidhi then asked the crowd, "Do you want to give her the power to stop Anna's dream project?"
