Comments not on behalf of Maharashtra govt: Pawar

Reacting to Madhav Godbole's resignation from the renegotiation panel, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday that he was not talking on behalf of the Maharashtra government when he commented on the 'negative approach' of those leading the talks with Dabhol Power Company on Tuesday.

Godbole's decision to resign from the committee is a 'personal one', Pawar told reporters.

He said there is need for renegotiation with Enron to reduce the DPC power tariff and the Godbole panel should complete its unfinished work.

Godbole submitted his resignation to the chief minister on Wednesday morning after an adverse comment made by Pawar at a public meeting in Bombay on Tuesday.

Pawar had said that he was 'apprehensive of the outcome of the discussions with Enron as those leading the talks from the government side are working with a negative approach'.
