a) Three Indians - S Gavaskar (a record three times); Vijay Hazare and Rahul Dravid - once each.

b) Steve Waugh has been involved in 55 100-plus partnerships in Tests. Tendulkar has 52 100-parterships in ODIs - the most by any batsmen.

Question: What is the maximum sequence of wins India has had in Tests and One-dayers. What is the record for the One-dayers, as we all know that the Aussies have the record in Tests (16) before VVS Laxman and Harbajan Singh broke the sequence in Kolkata.

Answer 2: India's best in Tests is 4 wins in a row during 1992-93 and its best in ODIs is 8 in a row from 20-2-1985 to 25-8-1985.

The all-time record in ODIs is 13 wins in a row by Australia from 12-1-2000 to 1-3-2000.

Question: Mr. Menon, On March 22 at Port of Spain in the West Indies, the last 6 Indian wickets in its second innings fell for 13 runs. Would it be too difficult to list the five cheapest instances of last-six wickets for India?

Answer 3: On three occasions India lost its last six wickets for a less than 15 runs in Tests.

Answer 4: West Indian Viv Richards has hit 84 sixes - the most by any batsman in Test cricket.

Answer 5: His 375 against England was chanceless.

However, he could had been out on two occasions during his innings of 501 against Durham - he was bowled off a no-ball by Andrew Cummins when on 12, and then was dropped by wicketkeeper Chris Scott off Simon Brown when on 18.

Question: Dear Sir, recently when Shoaib Akhtar completed his 100th wicket tally, I read that he was second after Waqar in no. of matches played. Till then I thought it was Saqlain. Can you tell me the top 10 bowlers in this list? What are the positions of Warne and Saqlain? Thank you.

Answer 6: The record for the quickiest to 100 ODI wickets is still held by Saqlain Mushtaq - in 53 matches, followed by Waqar Younis (59 matches). These two bowlers are followed by Dennis Lillee, Shane Warne and now Shoaib Akhtar - in 60 matches.

Question: Dear Mr Menon, what is the rule regarding the same bowler bowling two consecutive overs (from the 2 different ends) in Tests and ODIs ? I do remember something like that when Derek Underewood bowled two overs in Chennai against us ?

Answer 7: Cricket Laws do not allow the same bowler to bowl two consecutive overs. Interestingly, in Test cricket this has happened twice - when Australian captain Warwick Armstrong in 1921 and New Zealand leg-spinner Dick Moir in 1951 - had the unique distinction of bowling two overs in a row.

Question: What is the highest number of runs Krishnmachari Srikkanth has scored in an over in a one-day match, and how many sixes he has hit in total in one-day matches.

Answer 8: Kris Srikkanth hit West Indies off-spinner Roger Harper for three consecutive sixes in an over at Sharjah in October 1988. This perhaps is the maximum runs hit by Srikkanth in an over in an ODI match. During his career he has hit 41 sixes in 146 ODI matches.

Answer 9: England scored 503-2 (in about 300 mins) on the second day against South Africa at Lord's in 1924 - the maximum runs scored in a day's play in Test cricket history.

Answer 10: Australian Shane Warne, Pakistani Saqlain Mushtaq and Zimbabwean Ray Price - are the three spinners who have taken his wickets on most occasions - three.
