Hope and Despair
Everyone prayed for her recovery

Lakshmi's operation became an international event, with messages of support pouring in from across the globe. Celebrities and the common man alike prayed for her recovery. The hospital staff was flooded with calls enquiring about her health. Then Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa visited Lakshmi and offered monetary support. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan sent her a bouquet with his good wishes.
Today, Lakshmi is on the road to recovery. The plaster has been taken off and she looks like any other chirpy, normal child. She is still unable to walk, but her doctors say she will be able to walk normally in the new year. Dr Patil says she is able to move her fingers and toes. After a couple of weeks, she will undergo physiotherapy.
