2006's best Telugu movies

Godavari
This Sekhar Kammula film was a throwback to the movies of the 1970s. A simple tale shot on the Godavari river against the picturesque backdrop of the picnic spot of Papikondalu, Godavari was like a breath of fresh air. Sumanth and Komalini Mukherjee made the perfect pair of Ram and Seethamahalakshmi and etched their way into people's minds and hearts with their subtle performances. K M Radhakrishnan's music flowed melodiously.
Godavari proved slightly offbeat yet mainstream tales still work. And Kammula was the right man on the job to tell this tale, marked by a strong script and good characterisation. Godavari also proved that entertaining films can be made without vulgarity and double entendres.
