2006's best Telugu Movies

As usual, numerous Telugu films hit the theatres in 2006. And as usual, a few emerged as top grossers while others bombed. Here's a look at the six major movies of the year.
Pokiri
Pokiri perhaps emerged as the smash blockbuster of the year, running over 100 days. The movie was well-crafted, but it had a wafer thin plot, by Puri Jagannath.
The Prince was at his charming best in Pokiri, in terms of looks and action. Filled with loads of action, some good songs and some not-so-easily palatable fights and dialogues, Pokiri catapulted Mahesh Babu, Ileana and Puri Jagannath into the big league.
In fact, Pokiri's success has made it the benchmark for any Mahesh Babu film -- the recent example being Sainikudu, which failed to deliver the goods.
