Schumacher stands tallest

Michael Schumacher established himself as the all-time great of Formula 1 with a record six championships wins. Until this year he shared the record for five championships with Juan Manuel Fangio of Argentina, who won in the years between 1951 and 1957.

Schumacher's sixth win came from one of the most thrilling Formula 1 seasons in years when he finished eighth in the Japanese Grand Prix. The German held off Kimi Raikkonen for the title after Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello won the season-ending race. Raikkonen was Schumacher's closest rival for the championship.

Schumacher had a tough time winning his sixth title. He trailed Raikkonen 24-8 after three events on the 16-race calendar and had several difficult outings.
