North Korea, which has been in the news recently for testing a missile in spite of severe opposition by the West, is ranked last on the Democracy index.
Ranked at no. 167, the Communist nation under the rule of Kim Jong Il manages an overall score of 0.86.
It scores 0 in the category of electoral process and pluralism. The nation, which has attracted global criticism over its dismal human rights record, also scores 0 in the category of civil liberties.
Incidentally, North Korea's neighbour-and-foe South Korea has notched up an impressive score of 8.01, managing to claw into the category of 'full democracies'.
