Young Albanian girls and women pray near the central mosque. Muslims account for over 70 per cent of the population in Albania.
Fasting at least on the Night of Qadr is especially important in Albania, where Muslim traditions have only recently seen a revival. The Night of Qadr falls towards the end of Ramzan and apparently marks when the Koran came to their skies. Interestingly Christians fast on the Night of Qadr too apparently for luck given the importance of this night.
