September 25, 2008

A Kashmiri man offers prayers at a shrine built in memory of the 11th century Muslim Saint Shiekh Abdul Qadir Geelani in Srinagar.

Kashmir is walnut country and September is a season of harvest. It may be a happier Ramzan if the harvest is as frutiful as it is expected to be. Walnuts incidentally play a key role in Kashmiri Ramzan cuisine and find their way into many sweets and delicacies.
