And Sheru wasn't the only animal injured in the 26/11 attack. Dr Kaginkar took us to the birds' section, where a few pigeons injured during the terror attacks are being cared for. These birds were feeding outside the Taj Mahal Hotel when a grenade hurled from inside landed amidst them, killing quite a few and injuring several.
"On November 29, we got a call in the morning from the Fire Brigade, telling us that a lot of pigeons had been killed or badly injured outside the Taj Hotel. The NSG Commandos told me that one of the grenades was hurled from inisde the Taj Hotel, and it landed on the spot where the pigeons feed normally. When I went there, I saw that around 18-20 pigeons had died on the spot and around 13-14 were injured. We brought the injured pigeons here and immediately started treatment," said Dr Kaginkar.
