Major Jamini Dutta on courage under fire.
Major Jamini Dutta, 28, of the Naga Regiment loves soldiering during war-time. He loves it because during such times, "You become a close-knit family where you take care of your men and your men take care of you."

"We share common living conditions and face hardships together. And that's the reason we bond so strongly."
This camaraderie was evident when Major Dutta received information about two insurgents holed up in the jungles of the North-East. Without divulging too many details about the operations for security reasons, he says, "I decided to take them on during the day as I knew their modus operandi and the fact that they knew the terrain very well. The operation lasted for about 30 minutes and we successfully eliminated the two insurgents."
