'I joined the army for the way of life it teaches all of us'

August 15, 2008

Major Jamini Dutta was awarded a Sena Medal for valour in the North-East.

'From my childhood days I wanted to make a career where I would get a sense of respect, discipline and belonging. And all these things I get from the Indian armed forces and the Indian Army," says Major Dutta.

Major Hooda and Major Khan were attracted to the Indian Army since their childhood as both their fathers served in the army.

"No other career can offer you the feeling that the Indian Army offers to you today," says the 6 feet 2 inch tall Major Hooda.

For Major Khan, the life of a soldier did it for him. "The moment I opened my eyes I found around myself a disciplined environment. I joined the Indian Army for the way of life it teaches all of us," says this native of Uttar Pradesh's Etah district.
