To a question on fulfilling India's energy needs, he suggested tapping Helium-3 available on the moon.
Replying to a query, he said the advances in the field of space technology will benefit the masses by improving connectivity in rural areas, by way of telemedicine and by employment generation.
He also suggested creation of a Science Cadre to enhance specialization and professional competence.
Later, 50 college students, selected out of several thousands who competed in a contest organized by the Indian Space Research Organisation, got an opportunity to shake hands and interact with the former President.
