'The man with the hair'

September 27, 2007
But it was well and truly his show.

Mumbai cheered for Yuvraj, waved to Sreesanth and can't get enough of Bhajji's grin, but as Harsha Bhogle introduced him last among the squad of victors, the wait was all for Mahindra Singh Dhoni.

He took the stage with aplomb, deciding that he'd do Hindi after the others had already represented English and Maharashtrian. There is a great confidence about Dhoni, an assured and clear leader, one who has slipped on the captain's shoes and likes the way they feel. Hence, there is a spring in his step and a sense of pride in 'his' team, as he talks of his bowlers who took wickets for him and his batsmen who scored for him.

He leaves the stage and waves to the nation, and hands go up automatically. In pride, respect, faith.

At this rate, Dhoni, India's ready to do anything for you. And we don't just mean the Team.
