The media was handled very efficiently -- and thanked profusely by mostly everyone who took the dias -- during the Wankhede ceremony, and while preparations were well in place leading up to the event, things came to a head when the players actually arrived.
Suddenly the entire press area, which had so far been getting an uninterrupted view of the stage -- by which we mean most lensmen were perched onto the formerly neglected damp white chairs -- was overrun with security guards and policemen who seemed to be there purely in a visitor's capacity.
It's all good for our coppers to want a piece of Team India -- heaven knows we'd like them to be in good spirits -- but perhaps, just perhaps, we could do with them working when we need them the most, when the crowds are ripping apart barricades.
