Those magnificent flying machines

The Surya Kiran squadron is primarily composed of the indigenously manufactured fighter, the Kiran Mk II. It is based at Karnataka's Bidar Air Force Station.

The squadron was formed in 1996 and ranks among the world's top three renowned nine aircraft aerobatic teams in the world.

The aircraft flown by the Surya Kirans is the Kiran MK-II aircraft (HJT-16), the IAF's basic armament trainer.
