The parade began with Russian soldiers wearing World War II uniforms marching across the cobblestones of Red Square, past Lenin's mausoleum, followed by vintage trucks with war veterans, both men and women, waving red carnations.
World leaders rose from their seats to applaud the veterans.
Two Indians from the Indian Ex-Services League, Commander V S P Mudaliar (retired) and Major General Bikram Singh Kanwar (retired) participated in the ceremony. Both men participated in World War II as part of the British Army and Navy.
