On the nights of December 17 and 18, 1995, an aircraft dropped a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in villages near the headquarters of the Ananda Marg, a religious cult, in the Purulia district of West Bengal.
The CBI initially claimed the Ananda Marg hatched a plan to overthrow the Left Front government in West Bengal. The Bureau charged 14 people, including seven foreigners, in connection with the case in 1999.
Singh is one of the main accused in the case. He along with four Ananda Margis allegedly planned and organised the arms drop.
He has been absconding since 1995.
