An close associate of LTTE chief V Prabhakaran, Amman is alleged to have hatched the actual conspiracy to assassinate former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He is the LTTE's mysterious intelligence chief.
After the LTTE split some months ago, rebel leader Karuna claimed that Prabhakaran and Amman were responsible for killing Rajiv Gandhi.
'We condemn Prabhakaran and his group for the killing of Rajiv Gandhi. The law should be allowed to take its course in this killing and we will definitely help in this issue,' Karuna said in one interview.
The CBI's request to extradite Amman to India is pending with the Sri Lankan government, as is the case with Prabhakaran.
