The basilica comes alive during the fair, which is in its 99th year.
Earlier, offerings of wax in the form of a body of an adult or child, a limb or candles were given. These signified the sick and disabled. But these have given way to models of houses, vehicles, refrigerators, televisions and aeroplanes.
This stall, once owned by Gerard Alfanso, has been around for more than 60 years. His grandchild now takes care of it.
