The National Immigration Forum estimates that immigrants add $10 billion annually to the US economy and are major contributors to the tax kitty.

An estimated 8 to 10 million undocumented immigrants work as janitors, maids, cooks and farmhands. But the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks derailed President George W Bush's proposal to grant legal status to three million undocumented immigrants from Mexico.

At a rally in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (New York City), thousands of people sought to resuscitate the process of immigration reforms.
