Thiru Chandan Mitra, editor of The Pioneer, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha on August 28. Mitra, who has been a journalist for over 20 years, recently started the Pioneer Media School. While he personally supports the BJP, professionally he believes it is not the media's job to support individual politicians, parties or ideologies

Mitra replaced nominated member and journalist Kuldip Nayar.
