Parliament adjourned for the day over Bihar

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bihar rocked Parliament today after the government backtracked and agreed to a discussion under Rule 184 on the RSS issue.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned in the afternoon after the Rashtriya Janata Dal and other Opposition members remained firm on an adjournment motion on the role of the governor Vinod Pande in inviting the National Democratic Alliance to form the government in Bihar.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day because of the demand of the Opposition for an immediate discussion on the governor's role.

After Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced in the Lok Sabha that the government had no objection to discuss the RSS issue under Rule 184, RJD and other opposition members demanded immediate discussion on the installation of the NDA government in Bihar. There was pandemonium after Speaker G M C Balayogi said he had dismissed the notice on the adjournment motion. Several Opposition members rushed to the well of the house and started raising slogans against the government, following which Balayogi adjourned the house till 1400 hrs before calling it a day in the afternoon.
