Cinematic masterpieces from a master-storyteller

Anandha Thandavam (2009)

Based on the novel Pirivom Santhippom, one of Sujatha's more sensitive works, the movie, directed by Gandhi Krishna, is all about the tenuous romantic relationship between two people; a journey that takes them from India to the US, where a clash of cultures plays as important a part as emotions in their lives.

Raghu and Madhumitha, played by Siddharth and Tamannah fall, in love but their union is almost impossible as they come from strikingly different backgrounds. Both separate for a brief period but Raghu never really does give up on his love.

Written at the beginning of the NRI exodus to the West, Sujatha's novel throws light on a brand new breed of Indians who only looked like their forefathers -- but were Americans throughout.
