Have you thought of your next project?
ASA has approved of a script of mine which they want to make into a bilingual -- Hindi and Tamil. I would be directing it with fresh faces. It will be a romantic film. We have even registered a title -- Atheyum Thaandi for the Tamil version. The title suggests that love transcends everything. I will shoot the film next year.
You have done a Masters in Psychology and taught in a city college for some time. So how did teaching lead to films?
After my Masters, I strayed into teaching in my own college. However, I felt that I was not suited for that job. I had always been a creative writer. So, I decided to join an ad agency. I joined Jayendra and PC Sreeram's agency and worked for five years there.
So, is that where you met Jeeva who was assisting PC Sreeram?
Yes, Jeeva was PC's assistant. After we worked in all his films together, we fell in love and got married. Then I gave up working to raise my family. I never really had any ambition or aspiration for myself; it was all Jeeva and his career for me.
How influenced are you by Jeeva's style?
Jeeva and I were friends first. We used to discuss everything about his films all the time. His screenplays were quite different even if the story is simple, and that made his films stand out. I don't know whether I am trying to be like him but I am certainly influenced.
