Why haven't we seen you in multi-starrers?
Most of the films that came my way were just proposals. They were like, so-and-so will star in the film so we will get this much money because of him. There will be so and so many songs, and many actresses, and then you will have a film. In short, it did not have any script.
Most of the films were remakes of Hollywood films. And I had this image of boy-next-door who is romantic and funny and the roles that came my way only played on these aspects. So it was more like taking advantage of me as opposed to making good use of me.
Motivation is very important for me so I did not sign these films. Don't get me wrong, I am not against multi-starrers. If that was the case, I wouldn't have done Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Honeymoon had a great script where the character had weight.
But your role in Honeymoon Travels was not realistic at all; didn't you just say that you should be able to relate to a character?
I will keep contradicting myself all the time. I will say one thing today and another thing tomorrow.
How did you pull off dancing in that movie?
With great difficulty.
Is it something to do with the Deol surname that dancing comes with great difficulty?
I think so. I am not against dancing. If songs and dances enhance the story, then it is good. But most of the time it is just done for entertainment.
Are you going to work with Vijeyta films?
Yeah. But only when the right script comes along and at the right time.
And when would that be? They are coming into production in a big way?
Yes they are. But they also know how stubborn I am and I will only do what I want to do. So I will look for the script myself.
Don't you want to do a typical Deol film -- an action film?
I love action films and I am dying to do one. It should have a good budget behind it to spend on the special effects otherwise there is no point doing an action film. I might as well do my thrillers, comedies and romantic films because they are content heavy.
