Based on his growing up days experiences in Chandni Chowk, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has constructed the eagerly awaited drama featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. Through the site of inspiration plays an important role in the proceedings, filming in its characteristic crammed spaces proved to be too stressful, resulting in only a few actual location scenes. Instead, Mehra recreated the active aura of the same in Sambhar, near Jaipur.
