'I knew that Slumdog will bring out the finer person in Tanay'
Tejal does not mind the fact that her son had to mingle with slum children during the film shoot. "Even after living in Mumbai for so many years, we have never gone to the slums. My son is a cleanliness freak. So on the first day of the shoot, he kept looking at me. He was very careful about where he walked. But I knew that this experience would bring out the finer person in him. He saw Danny talking to slum kids, and even kissing them. Danny would sit just anywhere, and would not bother about the muck. Seeing that, Tanay lost his inhibitions and started playing with slum kids," she says.
Working in the film has changed the way Tanay's looks at slum kids now. "Earlier I would shoo street kids if they came near my car. I wouldn't like them touching my car. But today I keep a carton of Parle G biscuits in my car and give them out to kids. My friends have started doing this too. Slumdog has helped me understand street children," he says.
Tanay will be seen next in Mastang Mama.
