'Everyone is sad because all this may end after the Oscars'

Many slum kids worked in Slumdog and by the end of the film shoot, most of them improved looking at the other children," Sharmila says. "Rubina and Azhar have improved a lot, and now everyone is like one big family. They keep on meeting at various functions. But now, everyone is sad because all this may end after the Oscars."

So what does Sharmila love best about Slumdog? "There are nine children acting in the film. Among them only two are from the slums, and the rest come from well-to-do families. These kids have not seen the hardships that slum kids go through, and yet, they did justice to their characters. That's what I loved about the film," she says.

Sharmila is keen that Tanvi gets a chance to work in films and television serials. "We won't try for roles but if she gets offers, we will let her go ahead," she says.
