It was during her third audition that Tanvi told Lovleen that she knew dancing. That later came in handy for the film, as Latika's character is a dancer.
"I learnt Bharat Natyam for four years, and have been learning Kathak for two years. When I grow up, I want to become an astronomer. I love dancing, so I may also become a choreographer," Tanvi says. After a pause, Tanvi adds, "But since I have got this huge opportunity in acting, I would want to continue (acting) if I get more roles. I did not expect Slumdog Millionaire to get so much appreciation."
Despite her role in Slumdog -- Tanvi's Latika is on the verge of becoming a sex worker -- Tanvi has retained her innocence and does not even know what a 'brothel' means. "My character was never explained to me. I was just told what to say, how to act. I was never told who really is Latika, so I don't know what a brothel is. All Lovleen told me was that Latika was more mature then I am in real life."
