Making Pirivom Sandippom into Ananda Thandavam

Late Sujatha was one of the most revered writers in Tamil. His novels have everything that is needed to capture the imagination of readers.

Pirivom Sandippom is one such novel. National-award winning filmmaker (for Nilakkalam, based on Sujatha's novel) Gandhi Krishna admits that he has read and re-read the novel more than a hundred times.

He asked Sujatha for permission to make it into a movie but by the time he was ready to make the film, the original title was already registered for another film.

So, the filmmaker decided to name it Ananda Thandavam.
