I step over an open gutter in front of Rubina's home, and find her father Sohail Qureshi. Rubina, he tells me, has gone to the market, and will be back shortly.
Sohail has married for the second time, to Munni Rafiq Qureshi. Munni has three children from an earlier marriage while Rafiq has three from his previous marriage -- a son and two daughters of which Rubina is the youngest.
Munni is a cook, earning Rs 2,500 per month while Sohail is a carpenter, earning between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 per month. But both have stopped working for the past couple of months.
"By the grace of god, we do not have to starve ourselves to sleep," Munni says. "We manage to have two meals a day."
