Sanjay and Priya, seen here with Karan Johar on his show Koffee with Karan, have always been close to each other, and the relationship deepened after their father Sunil Dutt passed away.

While Sanjay was busy fighting his legal battle, thanks to his association with the 1993 Mumbai blasts, Priya took her father's place in politics.

When Sanjay was sentenced to six years imprisonment in 2007, Priya's grief was apparent and obvious to anyone who met her during that time.

But trouble surfaced soon when Sanjay married Manyata. Both Priya and her elder sister Namrata, who is married to actor Kumar Gaurav, were strangely not invited for the wedding.

Later, Sanjay reportedly told a journalist that Priya had no right to use her maiden name after marriage.

While Manyata is blamed by some for the estrangement, others claim a reason could be real estate. Namrata and Priya got an equal, if not larger, share of Sunil Dutt's property, which may have upset Sanjay.
