Isaac Thomas Kottukapalli is a music composer with a difference. His repertoire includes films by most of the National Award-winning directors like Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Girish Kasaravalli, Shaji N Karun, Jahnu Barua, to name a few. He is also always there for the young filmmakers who are willing to experiment.
His latest film that is receiving excellent reviews is Girish Kasaravalli's Gulabi Talkies, which has just won the Best Film award at the 10th Osian's Cinefan festival. This was the fifth Kasaravalli film for which he has composed the music.
He started working in films with the late Aravindan on films like Thampu, Kummatti and Esthappan soon after he acquired a postgraduate diploma in direction and screenplay writing from FTII, Pune. His foray into music started only much later, in 1998, with Kasaravalli.
In this interview, he talks about composing for Gulabi Talkies, one of the outstanding Indian films made in the recent times.
