The versatility of Asha Bhosle came to forefront with Khayyam's creative splendor in Umrao Jaan. The delicacy in her deliberation and refinement in her address not only reflected her acumen of the language but also the tragic character she sang for. I am especially a huge fan of her work in the touching Justuju jiski. She plays it down so well, lending the perfect pauses, cynical and heartbroken in the right places. Absolutely breathtaking, this!
