Venkat Prabhu's first film Chennai 600028 was an unprecedented success. Even after two years, people still talk about it.
Naturally expectations are high for the director's next film, Saroja, releasing on September 5. The fact that he has been signed to make a film for Warner Brothers and Soundarya Rajnikanth’s Ocher Studios shows what a hot property the filmmaker is now.
In this interview, Venkat Prabhu tells Shobha Warrier more about his forthcoming film. Excerpts:
Before the release of your first film Chennai 600028, nobody talked about you or the film. But it became a blockbuster and created history. Now, there is a lot of hype surrounding Saroja.
It is scary to see the expectations and hype. I made Saroja as if I was making my first film. But the tension is there. I want people to watch Saroja, have fun and go back.
Saroja is not Chennai 600028. It belongs to a different genre. The budget of course, is four to five times more than that of Chennai 28.
