Pushpak (1987)
In an era where movies ranged from loud to raucous, 1987's Pushpak (Pesum Padam, in Tamil) was different in every way.
Directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, the movie traced the life of an ordinary unemployed young man who exchanges identities with a millionaire.
The movie, which also starred the then reigning queen of the marquee, Amala, was completely without dialogues.
An intelligent mixture of comedy and social satire, the movie employed clever camera placements, the use of body language and a novel screenplay to take the place of dialogues, making this one of the most innovative films to be made, ever.
