'I'm not competing with anyone'

I find Rajeev Khandelwal at his laptop, dutifully answering mounds of fan mail. "It's important to respond," he says, in earnest.

The star of Raj Kumar Gupta's Aamir, Rajeev has got some great reviews for his first big-screen performance. But the actor seems relaxed and composed, not affected by the hoopla at all.

In his drawing room, gifts from fans adorn every wall, shelf and table. There are framed photographs from his Left Right Left days, teddy-bears from adoring teenaged girls, various Aamir memorabilia and an assortment of other nicknacks.

He chatted with Rediff readers and talked about his transition from television to movies. He also gave advice to his fans, and thanked them at length.

Perhaps most importantly -- and ladies, listen up! -- he informs us that he's still very much single!

For those who missed the fun chat, here is the transcript.

aishwarya_iyer2006 asked, ur movie was toooooooo good.......

Admirer asked, Hi Rajeev, how u feel now after the excellent reviews and box office results?

Rajeev Khandelwal answers, It's yet to sink in. But it is like hard work rewarded perfectly. We all are very happy at our end. Though I've but all the adulation behind me, and I'm focusing on my second project.

Admirer asked, Do u think that u have much more tough competition in bollywood right now than it was in Tellywood?

Rajeev Khandelwal answers, I am not competing with anyone. I just want to focus on my work and evolve as an actor.

smiley asked, the climax scene of aamir was awesome. what are your feelings when you are doing that scene?

Rajeev Khandelwal answers, I was living every second of the scene. Not just me, but the whole unit was spellbound by the climax.
