Sarika in Parzania
Rahul Dholakia's film on the Gujarat Riots rests so heavily on Sarika's shoulders, it almost seems unfair. Sarika is brilliant in Parzania, stunningly bringing to life a character that goes from humdrum joy to profound grief. She loses her son and, while managing to stay as a beacon for her husband, is the impetus for their powerfully enthused trials and tribulations.
Her character is the reason the film -- and the family's -- spirit lives, and Sarika is magnificent in this National Award-deserving role.
