What made you retain Asin in the Hindi film? Why did you not cast a Bollywood actress?
We conducted auditions and she auditioned as well. I think she had an upperhand since she had already done the Tamil version. Everybody liked her, so we selected her.
Was it Aamir's decision?
It was everyone's decision, not just his.
What made you cast Jiah Khan?
I wanted someone, who would look like a college student. Also, she should not overshadow Asin's character but would be contrasting. We had auditions for her role too.
You've worked in both Hindi and Tamil film industries. How would you compare the two?
People are more organised in Bollywood. In the South industry, we know what we're going to shoot only after reaching the sets. On the other hand, people in the South make the films their own. But here, people think that the film belongs only to the director or actor.
What about the Ghajini heroes, Aamir and Surya?
I am a huge Aamir fan. Surya is my best friend. Surya is very hardworking. To see someone work even harder than him was nice. Surya has the ability to reach where Aamir is.
