'Mohanlal could do justice to the role'

How did you choose Mohanlal to play the lead role?

Albert Samson is a complex character and Mohanlal could do justice to the role. He is an actor striving for perfection in his craft.

How powerful is the character, Albert Samson?

The architect in the story specialises in building churches initially. Then he started building homes and made a fortune out of it. But he realises that building huge structures cannot ensure peace inside it.

The Master Builder is regarded as a play based on three phases in Ibsen's life. Architecture may be a metaphor. The transformation that was brought about by a young girl who walks in to the architect's life, is tremendous.

He is an anti-hero, an idealist or even a shrewd character. He worries that his achievements would be eclipsed by the younger generation. You can relate it to power and the influence of power on human minds.

To me, this story is multi-layered. There is a realistic aspect about it. And there is a climax or a suspense element as well. I have made the character ambivalent.
