Yet another Salim-Javed creation, Mogambo remains the most vile bad guy in Bollywood's chequered gallery of scoundrels.
Amrish Puri invested the character with pure menace, visible in his every gesture as he tapped the edges of his throne with sinister glee or raised his eyebrows in surprise -- and surprise for Mogambo could mean certain death for anyone else.
Which is why the few times his cohorts were able to please him were truly memorable. His line was devastatingly simple -- 'Mogambo... is pleased' -- but Puri's deadly delivery makes it utterly unforgivable.
