The show is not exactly the same in every place. In Toronto, Akshay, one of the most popular of Indian actors the failure of whose film Tashan is made up more than expected by the huge opening of Singh Is Kinng, joined the Unforgettable.
In the American leg, Madhuri Dixit danced in, fulfilling a long held desire to work with Amitabh. And in London there will be even more glamour when Shilpa Shetty joins the cast.
Many acts throughout the show received thundering ovations: Madhuri dancing to an old hit song; Vishal and Shekhar driving the audiences into a frenzy; Abhishek floating through the auditorium in a wooden elevator; Aishwarya and Abhishek dancing to a tune from their hit film Guru; Preity moving to the hit number Pretty Woman from Kal Ho Naa Ho; Madhuri and Aishwarya reenacting their classic song from Devdas.
Not that all the moves by all the artists were always graceful; not that they provided perfect lip synching, but there was no denial that there was plenty of energy and glamour.
But in the final reckoning the show belonged to Amitabh. He transformed the show from a superlative and spectacular performance into an unforgettable event.
