Nayan is a huge fan of Kishore Kumar. A close friend of fellow contestant Chetan, Nayan comes from a family of singers, starting from his grandfather, a folk singer.

However, Nayan did not train under them. In 1990, he started singing in orchestras. Since then, he has sung in films like Jaani Dushman, Aar Paar, Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai and Asambhav.

Nayan is married with two sons. Staying away from them is something that upsets him the most.
