Maybe what stars need to come down to earth is a flop or three. Like Bobby Deol, who bombed big time with Shaka Laka Boom Boom and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, and today, seems to be going downhill without brakes.
His new film Nanhe Jaisalmer tells the story of a kid (Dwij Yadav), who expresses a desire to meet Bobby, whom he idolises.
His mother tells him not to be stupid -- why, she wondered, would a Bollywood star take all that trouble?
Imagine her surprise, and the kid's pleasurable shock, when the Deol does precisely what no one expected him to, and goes all the way to Jaisalmer to meet his young fan?
You could be cruel and say he had nothing better to do anyway -- but come on, give the Deol his due, he did go out of his way to do a good deed.
Director Sameer Karnik will probably have a disclaimer at the start of his film, that reads: Based on true events.
