Pallavi is against the Agarwal family because Ajay marries his girlfriend after getting engaged to Pallavi. She is then married to another 'good-for-nothing' member of the Agarwal family.

She later develops an affection for her step-child Krishna but the Agarwal family takes him away from her.

After a generation leap, she falls in love with Sudesh Mehra, a businessman. But she realises that he loves Parvati babhi, whom she detests.

After another generation leap, she comes in contact with Parvati's lost grandson, Eshan. She claims she adopted Eshan because she was missing Krishna.

She is loved by the audience because she is nice to the people she loves (like Krishna, and Eshan). Circumstances make her what she becomes.
