'I don't see how Sivaji can affect my film'

Awarapan is the costliest film from the Bhatt banner at Rs 18 crores. How did Mahesh Bhatt agree to such a huge amount considering the fact that his budgets are smaller?

First of all, I had two commercially successful films plus a critically-acclaimed one to my credit. That made things easier. Secondly, I am part of their family.

That said, I don't think I would have got this budget if they did not believe in my idea. It's not just financial. Mukesh Bhatt has emotionally invested a lot in this film. He has gone out of his way to help us. But I don't know the actual budget of this movie; he never really told me.

Will you work with producers outside of the Bhatt camp?

Yes, if there is a good offer. I have a couple of good offers but until they accept my ideas, I will not be able to work with them.
